These nine paintings were shown at Greg Kucera Gallery in April, 2008, in a solo exhibition entitled Nebulæ. The patterns and arrangements were originally inspired by astronomical photographs, including the Hubble Space Telescope "Deep Field" images, and illustratons accompanying galactic catalogs. However, the stylization of the drawn and painted patterns are intended to deemphasize the importance of this reference point; it would be equally appropriate to perceive the patterns as microscopic organisms, or to see in the softly glowing colors an allusion to stained glass.
